Getting to Know Me
Let's Chat
In my opinion, there is nothing better than being able to visually tell your own story. Growing up in a small town in central Wisconsin my story began and continues to be one of hard work, determination, and integrity wrapped in a constant vigor to inspire and create. Whether it was sketching creatures or designing far off destinations, I have always looked at the world through the
lens of what it could be rather than simply what it is. This curiosity led me to
build forts with my brother in the backyard and perform in school plays and concert band. I am a lover of history and science fiction. A voracious reader and researcher who looks at the details no matter how small. I am meticulous, for
all the reasons good storytellers and makers should be: Because we care. I care about making stories come to life and telling the tales of others who have come before me or have yet to come. And I express this in all types of mediums from glass and wood to digital and analogue.
It is often said that if you love what you do you never work a day of your life, and for me, when I am creating nothing rings more true. My process is informed by my love of tactile (materials) and written (text) visual design research combined with the the inclusion of sketches and collages. This culminates in a distinct methodology derived from color, tone, and materiality to get my point across various design briefs and unique professional working experiences.
I have often been viewed as an outcast, an outlier, someone who never quite
fit in with the crowd, which in my line of work, is exactly where you want to be.
I fancy myself a rover, a traveler, a teacher, a builder, an explorer, a leader, a colleague, friend, and a man of many faces, but ultimately I want to be known
for the love of sharing my craft and talents with the world.
This is a message to everyone who looks a little deeper than the surface level:
Keep looking because it will ultimately lead you to where you want to go.
